The HockeyFirst Skills Academy is open to players in Grades 3 to 6 and will be located at the new City Centre Arena. For those young hockey players looking for extra development training throughout the hockey season and beyond, Coach Craig Didmon, has teamed up with Jeff Compton of Compton Sports Training Systems to provide a high performance, on and off-ice after school program from mid September to mid April.
The HockeyFirst program models the successful Westshore Hockey Academy program and is excellent pre-cursor to it.
“Over the past 7 years with the WestShore Academy, I have consistently been impressed with the amount of passionate hockey players and their level of commitment towards our National Sport” said Coach Didmon.
“We are really excited about this opportunity, as it has been so rewarding working with the players in this community and sharing in their successes. And now being able to instill the skills and knowledge of the game at an even earlier age will be extremely beneficial to the players’ hockey development.”
The HockeyFirst program will provide players born in the years 2000 – 2003 two development ice sessions per week with professional coaches as well as off ice programs throughout most of the school year.
There will be 50 On-Ice Sessions throughout the season.
